I'll Never Forget You Patricia Rogers

Patricia Rogers
December 13, 1988-September 21, 2009
(I stole this picture from her Facebook I hope she doesn't mind)

So this post is dedicated to my good friend Patricia Rogers. She passed away on September 21, 2009 at the age of 20.Patricia was in a car accident in Nephi Canyon. She was in a head on collision and her head injuries were too bad to bring her back. Patricia and I grew up dancing together. I first met her when I moved to Manti and we were in Mrs. Rasmusson's fourth grade class together. Later that year I joined a dance group directed by Kathleen Pili and there was a bunch of Manti girls that would carpool together me, Kayla Barclay, Tricia Rogers, Felicity Miller, Aubrey Tibbs, Christine Cox, Hannah Dettinger and Bekah Armstrong. We had so much fun all those years dancing together. Tricia and I were on the Manti drill team together with a bunch of those other girls we danced with when we were younger. Our Senior year we had nine seniors that danced all four years of high school together needless to say we were all really close. Then when we graduated Patricia and I were the only two that went on to dance for the Badgerettes together at Snow College. She was beautiful dancer and good friend. I don't ever remember her ever being mean to anyone. She will forever be in my heart and I will never forget her and the influence she has had on me and many others. She will be missed greatly by all her family and friends but I know she is in heaven with her sister Amberlee who passed away four or five years ago with the same head injuries. Heavenly Father has major work for those two to do and they will have so much fun catching up. Her funeral was beautiful and the nine seniors and a couple of her good friends sang a song called "Daughter of a King". It was one the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Here are the words to the song that we sang. Well we couldn't really sing through our tears but we did our best.

Daughter of a King

Words and Music by Jenny Phillips and Tyler Castleton

Do you wonder if He knows who you are?

Do you wonder if He knows the secret pleadings of your heart

He has numbered every sand of the sea

And he longs for you to know that He believes in you

Can you feel a quiet power from above?

Can you feel His strength surround you when your own is not enough?

He has blessed you with his spirit from on high

And He longs for you to know it lives inside of you

Oh, be true –

Daughter of a king,

the Father’s royalty

heir to His divinity

He’s calling your name

to come and take your place before His throne

He has always known

what he created you to be

A daughter of a king

You hold the promises of all eternity

Rise to claim the noble birthright you were sent here to receive

He has loved you since you lived with Him before

Let Him lead you to the gifts He has in store for you

Oh, be true –

Daughter of a king,

the Father’s royalty

heir to His divinity

He’s calling your name

to come and take your place before His throne

He has always known

what he created you to be

Father’s royalty

heirs to His divinity

He’s calling our names

to come and take our place before His throne

He has always known

what He created us to be

Daughters of a king
