March-I like it

I like March for a couple of reasons...

-Spring Break
-My Birthday
-My Grandpa's birthday (which is the same day as mine)
-Kurt's Birthday
-Austin's Birthday( There are a lot of birthday's in March in both Soper and Marchant families)
-Last teaching practicum (in Price)
-The finale of the Bachelor
-Spring is here and everything turns green again
-Summer is around the corner and school is almost out

I love Birthdays and I loved it today when my friend Allison and I were substituting a 6th grade class she realized it was the first day of March and she said...

I really loved it and I got really excited. I love that she said it even though my birthday is 21 days away. Did I mention that mine and Kurt's Birthday are TWO days apart? That makes for excellent birthday fun! Oh and another fun fact for the day, i'll be 22 on the 22nd. Yeah. How often does that happen? Only once for me :).

I have mixed feelings about this teaching practicum in Price. I'm terrified because one day i'm teaching kindergarten and the next day i'm teaching 5th grade. Can you say complete opposites? I'm excited because my group of friends and I are staying in a hotel for the whole week. These girls are so fun! There are 5 of us and it will be crowded but pretty darn fun. And i'll be sad because i'll leave Kurt here for a week. It's crazy to think we have already come to our last teaching practicum. It's gone by so fast and before I know it i'll be student teaching!

I really LOVE March! Happy Birthday to Kurt, Me and anyone else who has a birthday in the wonderful month of March!!!

Spring Semester: The end is near.

I know. Intense title. I just wanted to express my gratitude on how close I am to being done. I have a total of TWO semesters left. This one, which is the Elementary Education BLOCK, and then STUDENT TEACHING in the fall. The end is near people. The end is near. I'm very nervous because I am teaching for a full day, by myself, in a 4th grade classroom, for the first time, on Monday, at Hurricane Elementary School. Did I mention I am going to be by myself. I'm kind of freaking out. Hopefully those kids don't eat me alive. I guess we'll see if I want to change my major by the end of all of this. Luckily I have amazing people to help me (like my cousin Kimmie and my mom), and some amazing friends in the Block with me. You can just call me Mrs. Marchant. AH!

Probably should tell you a little about Kurt. He is super duper busy as well. I think he has 12 math classes 13 engineering classes and 40 more math classes. He also has two jobs and a calling as the 2nd counselor in a singles ward bishopric. He is amazing. Just saying. He is so busy and still finds time to hang out with me. We will be transferring to Utah State in the fall. I'm so sad about it because I love Cedar City. I have heard from everyone that has lived in Logan that they love it. So I guess it's good to start a new adventure. We really want a baby but we know it will happen whenever it happens. We're pretty optimistic about it :)

Well this is us for now.

Delta Competition-Mohey Tawa

We had our first competition on Decemember 4th in Delta. It was a crazy and hectic day because there weren't a lot of teams there so we had to hurry after each dance to get ready for the next one. It was so fun and nerve racking to see the girls out on the floor for the first time in full makeup and costume. Gosh they looked so cute. They did so amazing. We still have a long ways to go to get ready for state but we are gonna work hard. The boy in the middle is our biggest fan. His name is Garth. He painted his face and made a cape that says Mohey's #1 fan. He is so cute. We had great support from friends and family! I'm so excited for the next competition. It's at Jordan High School on the 18 of December so come support Mohey Tawa!

Mohey Tawa-1st place in lyrical, 1st place in military, 2nd place in dance, 2nd in kick, 1st overall in 3A and won the sweepstakes (most points won out of all the teams combined at the competition). I just LOVE these girls.

Scroll Down-there's another post. Woo hoo two in one day!

A Little Behind!

I know i'm a little behind on the blogging gig but I left my camera in Manti when I went home for Halloween and I haven't been home since. My mom finally brought it to me. She is the greatest. Anyways-I wanted to share these really fun cupcakes that I made for the girls I visit teach. I found out about them from my friend Alesha. Our group for one of my classes made them and gave them out the day of our presentation. Here are the ones I made:

I made Halloween ones but you could really do any color for any holiday. Aren't they so cute? I think so. They are super easy. If you want to know how to make them just ask me and I will give it to ya.

For Thanksgiving we got to see both families! Wednesday, Thursday and a part of Friday we spent in Panguitch with the Soper clan. Wednesday my cousin Kimmy had a corn dog party for us. It's an annual thing where we eat corn dogs and do fun corn dog things. Thursday was of course the beautiful Thanksgiving feast and the annual Wii bowling tournament. In the championship it was Austin, Taylor, it was either Kurt or Adam (I can't remember) and Grandpa Jack. Yeah he is a rock star. Taylor won. Whatever. This is a typical scence of the Soper Wii tournament.

This was taken awhile ago and I stole this from Tone. It's a good time :)

Friday afternoon we headed to Beaver to hang with the Beaver clan. Krstin, Scott and their kids were they only family there and we had a lot of fun. We went shopping here:

And here:
I bought a bunch of new ornaments for our tree! I love Tai Pan. They have the best prices and the cutest stuff. This place gets me in trouble! We cut down our tree in Beaver. I'm so picky because I had never cut down a tree til I met Kurt. My mom always had a fake tree. So I'm used to the perfect tree and that is what I look for. Kurt gets frustrated with me but he'll get over it. Here is Kurt cutting down our tree!

Looking for the perfect tree!

Kurt cutting the tree. He actually found it! Not me!

Our tree! It's a little bigger than I planned but it looks really good.

The boys throwing snow balls at me. You can't see my because i'm hiding.

The whole Christmas tree crew!

We had a blast seeing both families playing games, laughing at Kurt, doing the worst puzzle known to man with Scott and Kristin, and eating good food. We love the holidays!

Cubby

I know some of you are going to think I'm totally crazy that i'm blogging about a dog. But this dog was a part of our family. This blog post is mostly for me to remember all that I can about Cubby so don't feel obligated to read this.

We got Cubby when we first moved to Manti.I was thirteen. He was the cutest chubby little chocolate lab we had ever seen. There were a lot of names considered but my dad decided Cubby was best because he looked like a bear cub. He came to us in the winter of that year so my mom said he could sleep in the house so he wouldn't freeze. Well from then on he was an inside dog and he was with us for everything. I can remember every Christmas morning he would always be in the room with us opening our presents and chewing up wrapping paper. In high school, every time I would come home for lunch I could hear Cubby running down the hallway to greet me and to share whatever I was eating for lunch that day.He was there to greet everyone who came home no matter who it was.If he didn't, you knew there was something wrong. Those of you that know or have seen Cubby, know that he was a big dog and by big I mean tall and fat! He looked a little imtimidating but he was just like a big teddy bear. He wouldn't hurt a fly. My dad would take him walking in the mornings to shed a few pounds and he would get so sore and stiff. But he loved my dad so he would get excited when anyone would say "Wanna go walking?". Another thing I remember about Cubby is he slept on my parents bedroom floor. Their room was right above mine and every night I could hear Cubby snoring. At first I thought it was my dad but later on I realized it was Cubby. I thought it was so funny. He had personality just like a human. Whenever Ashley or Taylor would practice the piano he would start howling and it was like he was singing.Anytime you sit down at the kitchen table to talk with someone he would moazy on over stick his head between your knees and wouldn't leave til you scratched his ears. Then he would plop on your feet.On Sunday nights as a family, we would gather in the dining room and kitchen to talk, snack on some dessert or play a game. While doing this someone would lay on the floor and Cubby being the huge dog that he was, would lay right on top of you, lengthwise,so his head would be right in your face. He would put his giant head on your chest and just lay there. He loved to be close to us, as close as possible. When the home teachers would come over, he would be in the room with the family,at someones feet, listening to the church message that they had prepared.

Cubby was there for every Birthday, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, New Years, Father's Day, Mother's Day, 4th of July, Hunting Trip/Camping trip, breakfast, lunch and dinner. He was there when I would wakeup and when I went to sleep. He was there for every party we had with friends. All of our friends loved him. He knew when we were sad and would cuddle up to us when we cried. He would get excited when we were happy and break up fights when we fought with each other. He couldn't wait for us to get home anytime we left for a vacation or a weekend trip and we hated leaving him. I think we called my grandma's almost everyday to check on him when we were in Hawaii last summer.
The thing I remember most about Cubby is that he loved my dad. He followed my dad everywhere.Cubby would get so excited to see my dad, everytime he would come home.He loved spending every possible moment with my dad from riding in the truck, lighting the fireworks, hunting, fishing, to watching t.v and sleeping.Cubby was the most patient, playful, and loving dog I've ever had. He died last night at 11:00pm. He loved my family so much that before he died he held on a little longer to see them one last time before he took his last breath. They came home and found him distorted on the living room floor, he took three last breaths then died. The last time I saw him he had a bad infection in his leg and he had lost half his weight but we thought he had more time. I feel like I have lost not only a dog, but a friend and a family memeber. I will miss you forever Cubby and I will always love you.
