Rice a Roni...The San Francisco Treat!

I had that song in my head the whole time Kurt and I were in San Francisco for spring break. And Kurt's thing was, every time we passed a cow he would say, "Happy cows come from California..." yeah we are so nerdy. We had so much fun in California with Kevin and Robyn and Kassidy. When we got there on Wednesday Kassidy was a little nervous around Kurt but was comfortable with me immediately. She soon warmed up and we all had to call him beast for the entire trip. She is obsessed with princesses and she insists on being called Belle, or Sleeping Beauty (it depends on the day). So she dubbed Kurt beast (off of Beauty and the beast) Robyn was dragon (off of Sleeping Beauty) Kevin was Prince and I was just Whitney. So stinkin' cute. Thursday was a day full of shopping, visiting the Jelly Belly factory and relaxing. It was really nice after an 11 hour drive the day before and having to hear Kurt say Happy cows come from California over and over and not to mention our GPS was taking us in circles so we were ready to kill each other by the time we got there.
The Jelly Belly factory was really cool. We did a tour and got to see how they make the Jelly Belly's. OH and as for pictures go, either Kurt lost the camera or we forgot it for most of the trip so thanks to wonderful Robyn she took some pictures for us. But I'll post what we do have for right now until I get the other ones from Robyn. LOVE you Robyn!-Anyways, we ate Jelly Belly's the entire trip, they were delicious! Friday we went to San Francisco, drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, went to the beach, and Pier 39. Such a fun day. The water was freezing so we didn't swim but we had a little picnic and searched for sea glass.
We took some pictures at this spot on Robyn's camera so I will post those later. But the whole time we were in San Francisco I thought of the show Full House haha. I'm a little ridiculous. The bridge costs $7 a car to drive across it. They are making bank off that sucker. Kurt was disgusted that the State of California was so far in debt even though they charge an arm and a leg for everything.
This is how all of the streets are in San Fran. I kinda sorta loved it because it was so different and just how I pictured it but everyone else wasn't a fan. Kurt stated numerous times that he could never live there

This is Pier 39. A really touristy place of San Fran. but so fun. There were all these little shops and places to eat. There was a harbor and you could see the Golden Gate Bridge. Really just a fun little pier. There was a place were sea lions all gathered and hung out but there wasn't a lot so we didn't take any pictures. So Friday was really fun and we had a good time. Saturday March 20th was Kurt's 24th birthday so we went to six flags. Kassidy loves all of the animals and we heard about Shouka all week. This is Shouka.

There was also a dolphin and sea lion show so it was really eventful going from one show to the next. Then we went on some rides. Kurt and Kevin were so nervous but I was so EXCITED. I love roller coasters. This one was my favorite.I don't really know how to explain it but it was so much fun. After Kurt and I had our fun on the rides, we found Robyn, Kass and Kevin. Since Robyn is pregnant she couldn't go on any rides so we found her and Kass and took Kass on some rides. She was really nervous but loved it. After all our Six Flag fun we went home for some cake and ice cream. Sunday we headed home and on our way home we were driving down what is called the loniest rode. Seriously there was absolutely nothing for miles. Kurt just happened to pass the only cop on that rode going 87 so he got pulled over and slapped with a ticket. Luckily the guy was nice and only gave him a ticket for five over. So besides the ticket we had so much fun with Kevin, Robyn and Kassidy and had a nice vacation away from school and work.

Riding Thomas the Train. Kassidy's favorite ride!

Who really sucks at blogging??? THIS GIRL

But i'm going to do better. I know that I say that every time I update my blog but I really mean it this time. January and February were eventful months for us and we are only getting busier as the days go by. January 1st was my dad's birthday. We went home and spent the holiday with him and the rest of my family. Then on the 22nd I threw a bridal shower for my best friend Aubrey who got married on the 29th. I was the Maid of Honor. I had to give a little speech at the lunch and not only was I scared to death but I cried. How embarrassing. In the meantime Kurt was busy studying for Calculus III, refereeing wrestling in Cedar, St. George and Delta. He's been ice fishing a couple times but hasn't had any luck there. We both are staying busy with our church calling and I'm still working at Wingers. In February my sister-in-law Laney had her baby girl on the 16th. She is such a sweet little girl and they named her Sienna. Then just recently my sister Ashley had her Jr. Prom. She went on her date with one of her good friends Tiancum Famui. He is a polynesian and luckily I was there to help her get ready and watch her dance in the promenade. She is such a gorgeous girl and is one of my best friends. She was crowned 1st attendant for the prom royalty. The prom queen was a mentally disabled girl who is socially challenged and I thought that it was really sweet that her class voted her as prom queen. I was so proud of her. Her classmates look up to Ashley a lot and she sets a good example for them. She was a part of the prom committee and my mom said that everyone came to Ash when they had a question or needed a opinion on something. Anyways here are some pictures of Aub's wedding, Sienna and Ashley's prom.

She told everyone her sneaks were silky high tops so they are fancy sneakers

Her Gorgeous dress. I loved it.

Christmas!

For Christmas this year we spent the majority of the time in Beaver. It was so much fun seeing all of Kurt's brothers and sisters all together cuz that almost never happens. It was a mad house with all the people there and my first Christmas not being with my family but we had a good time and we were definetly spoiled. I told Kurt we need to enjoy it why we can because when we start having kids they will be the ones being spoiled and we will be forgotten! Thanks to Robyn and Kevin being on the ball and taking pictures, I stole some pictures from her blog. We wore our onsies that my parents got us for Christmas and they were a hit.

Karen gave all of the grandkids Pj's on Christmas eve and wanted a picure of all of them together. Since Kurt and I are the only ones that don't have kids we were in the picture too with out PJ's on ready for bed and waiting for santa to visit our house!
Can you find us???? 20 nieces and nephews with two more on the way! I'm so excited for Kevin and Robyn and Kristin and Scott!
Then on Sunday baby Kamdon was blessed by his daddy Kent in Richfield. What a great Christmas for us and we miss all of our family already. Maybe if Kurt and I have a baby everyone will come back and see us for the blessing haha.

Pictures

Kurt and I got family pictures done this year if that is what you call us haha to me they kind of look like another round of engagements. Anyway I love most of them minus two or three. Kurt only likes one cause he thinks he looks fat in all of them. WHATEVER. I think he looks great. Overall i'm pleased with them! The girl that did them has family here in Cedar she comes here quite often and so we did most of them here on SUU's campus. I know I only post once in a blue moon and a major part of that is we don't have a camera. So for Christmas we are getting a camera and that will be so nice to be able to actually take pictures. Another reason is that we didn't have internet, but we do now, yay, so with a new camera and internet you'll be hearing a lot more from Kurt and I.
These first two aren't favorites but I payed for them so you get to look at em :)

This one is my mom's favorite in case you were wondering which one was her favorite

I'll Never Forget You Patricia Rogers

Patricia Rogers
December 13, 1988-September 21, 2009
(I stole this picture from her Facebook I hope she doesn't mind)

So this post is dedicated to my good friend Patricia Rogers. She passed away on September 21, 2009 at the age of 20.Patricia was in a car accident in Nephi Canyon. She was in a head on collision and her head injuries were too bad to bring her back. Patricia and I grew up dancing together. I first met her when I moved to Manti and we were in Mrs. Rasmusson's fourth grade class together. Later that year I joined a dance group directed by Kathleen Pili and there was a bunch of Manti girls that would carpool together me, Kayla Barclay, Tricia Rogers, Felicity Miller, Aubrey Tibbs, Christine Cox, Hannah Dettinger and Bekah Armstrong. We had so much fun all those years dancing together. Tricia and I were on the Manti drill team together with a bunch of those other girls we danced with when we were younger. Our Senior year we had nine seniors that danced all four years of high school together needless to say we were all really close. Then when we graduated Patricia and I were the only two that went on to dance for the Badgerettes together at Snow College. She was beautiful dancer and good friend. I don't ever remember her ever being mean to anyone. She will forever be in my heart and I will never forget her and the influence she has had on me and many others. She will be missed greatly by all her family and friends but I know she is in heaven with her sister Amberlee who passed away four or five years ago with the same head injuries. Heavenly Father has major work for those two to do and they will have so much fun catching up. Her funeral was beautiful and the nine seniors and a couple of her good friends sang a song called "Daughter of a King". It was one the hardest things I've ever had to do.

Here are the words to the song that we sang. Well we couldn't really sing through our tears but we did our best.

Daughter of a King

Words and Music by Jenny Phillips and Tyler Castleton

Do you wonder if He knows who you are?

Do you wonder if He knows the secret pleadings of your heart

He has numbered every sand of the sea

And he longs for you to know that He believes in you

Can you feel a quiet power from above?

Can you feel His strength surround you when your own is not enough?

He has blessed you with his spirit from on high

And He longs for you to know it lives inside of you

Oh, be true –

Daughter of a king,

the Father’s royalty

heir to His divinity

He’s calling your name

to come and take your place before His throne

He has always known

what he created you to be

A daughter of a king

You hold the promises of all eternity

Rise to claim the noble birthright you were sent here to receive

He has loved you since you lived with Him before

Let Him lead you to the gifts He has in store for you

Oh, be true –

Daughter of a king,

the Father’s royalty

heir to His divinity

He’s calling your name

to come and take your place before His throne

He has always known

what he created you to be

Father’s royalty

heirs to His divinity

He’s calling our names

to come and take our place before His throne

He has always known

what He created us to be

Daughters of a king

Update on us!

Kurt and I don't have the internet so its really hard for me to keep my posts up to date! So I'm just really sorry about that and hopefully we will get it in the near future. This summer has been a crazy one. Kurt is working for the forest service and has been on a fire for the past two weeks and I've been a big baby about it! I miss him so dang much! When he isn't on a fire he is living in Beaver during the week and then coming home to Cedar on his weekend which is Sunday and Monday so I've seen Kurt a handful of times in the past two and a half months. This is very hard for me but I'm very grateful that he has a well paying job and that he is having a good time. As for me, my days consist of working, going to the lake with some Wingers friends, hanging out with Kevin, Robyn and Kassidy, who are leaving me in a week :( occasional trips to manti, and lounging in my apartment counting the days til I get to see Kurtie again.Pretty stinkin LAZY I know. I sound like a big whiner and i'm sorry for my sob story I promise i'm really trying to come to terms with the fact that it's not going to change. It really is a great blessing because it's forced me to make some friends and he making good money for the school year. Which brings up a new change that will be occuring on our lives. Kurt decided to change his major to Engineering and SUU doesn't have an enginerring program so we will be transferring in the next year to a new school. We don't know where yet but the possible schools are Utah State (forever away from everything and everyone) U of U or BYU and i'm gonna maybe say UVU haha so all the schools up north pretty much. It's exciting to think about for me. That is story with this Marchant clan and hopefully i'll get some Florida pictures up in the near future!
That's my manly fire fighter! I guess Kevin called him the gay Indian. Gotta love his cute smile!
